Klaas Pijlman , born 05-01-1917 in Amsterdam and died 18-07-2007 in Amsterdam, illustrator, watercolorist, draftsman, painter, linocutter, cartoonist and teacher.
-Education: Institute for Applied Arts Education Amsterdam.
He was the son of Fetze Pijlman (1882-1965), composer of church music and owner of music publisher 'De Harp', and Maria Johanna Stoffels (1875-1953), seamstress.
The Christian faith was a guideline and source of inspiration for Klaas Pijlman. He illustrated religious books by, among others, Miss G. (Gesina) Ingwersen. He also illustrated children's books by the writer K. (Klaas) Norel. He was a drawing teacher at various pedagogical academies in Amsterdam, including the Gereformeerde Kweekschool (GKS). In Amersfoort he was also a teacher at the Christian Lyceum.
- Style : His paintings breathe the atmosphere of the “Bergense School”.
- Subjects of his free art: including Christian religious scenes, landscapes, village and town views, nudes, fantasy animals, portraits and still lifes.
He was a member of the Association of Christian Artists (BCK).
