The artist Leen Schouten (1936), born in Schiedam and currently living in Almelo, was already busy with drawing and painting as a boy, but his love for music was greater. He went to study at the Rotterdam Conservatory. After his education he worked in bands, taught and was a conductor of brass bands. Gradually drawing and painting started to play a role again. Leen Schouten studied the painters from previous centuries and partly through the color and harmony of the music he formed himself.
The last 10 years he has devoted himself entirely to painting. He has exhibited in many cities in the Netherlands, but also in England and the United States.
