Maarten Dekker (1950) trained at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Dekker is considered a very talented and versatile artist, who, in addition to being a painter and etcher, has also made his name as a designer of artistic furniture objects. He also produces numerous artistic play objects on behalf of many municipalities. As a painter, Dekker works with both oil paint and acrylic. His paintings can be characterized as abstract expressionist. The space lacks any perspective, is filled in without main or secondary issues, and radiates movement and vibration. Dekker's canvases are rich in often fantastic colors, applied from the spontaneity of the painter. Dekker's etchings reveal his controlled technique and can certainly be called unique.
