Marijke (Anna Margaretha) Cosse was born on September 5, 1929 in Semarang (Indonesia). From Indonesia she eventually moved to the Netherlands and first lived in Heemstede, later she had her studio at home in Amsterdam. Cosse studied sculpting and making bronze sculptures at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. In 1964 she married F. van Bennekum. In addition to sculpting, she was also a medalist (making medals and coins), a painter of mainly watercolors and a draftsman.
