Coming home is a concept, a feeling that many people are familiar with.
It occurs in literally, finding your home, your place. This is where I belong.
But also during meetings, the feeling of knowing someone for years at a first meeting and of course in your work.

Marinel Vieleers plays with all these questions and feelings in her work... in search of that “feeling of home”.

Marinel tries to show the humanity in the buildings and therefore something of the character of the builder or resident. It is often just subtle details that reflect all this.
Houses - or sometimes details of houses - sometimes tell us the story of the resident. It can tell us who lives there and what his situation or character is like.
That is, as it were, the resident's second skin.

The "test of time" or influence of people on the buildings often plays a role in Marinel's work. She imagines her story around the structure.
Copper, cement, ceramics and other materials are now used by her.
