Visual expression precedes words; When you work visually, you think much more in terms of image, form and composition. Writing is preceded by a processing process. Every creative product is a reflection of a part of yourself, even if you try to hide it. People who say they do not write autobiographically may be more autobiographical than people who consciously do so. When working both visually and verbally, you get the best results if you work from your gut, when something accidentally comes from your subconscious. Not if you really want to, because then it is often too forced. So it is important not to try to understand everything too well.
