(An isography is a photographic reproduction method of drawings, woodcuts and etchings by the Dutch firm W. van Meurs (first half of the 20th century). The firm had the exclusive rights to these facsimiles and kept its working methods secret. The firm kept the original format, the facsimiles were given a Van Meurs mark and were often said to be as good as the original. Isographies of pencil drawings were sometimes so real that the lines could be erased.)
Frames: Damage to frames is not described. If a work is framed behind glass and the glass is broken, this will be mentioned.
The work can also be picked up in 's-Gravenzande (near The Hague (Scheveningen), Rotterdam and Delft and 5 minutes from the beach). The period for collection, with advance payment, is very generous. Marie Jeanette Sophie (Mies) Elout van Soeterwoude-Drabbe - also called Moen - (Utrecht, March 4, 1875 – Ellecom, May 24, 1956) was a Dutch painter and draftswoman.
Life course
She lived and worked mainly in Domburg. Together with her friend Jan Toorop and with the help of colleagues such as Ferdinand Hart Nibbrig and Jan Heyse she organised the well-known Domburg Exhibitions, which took place between 1911 and 1921. She was married to Paulus Johannes Elout van Soeterwoude (1873-1956), director of the Domburg Sea Bathing Facility and descendant of the Elout family.
Mies Elout received her first lessons from Willem Schütz in Middelburg. She is often mentioned as a pupil of Toorop, but Piet Mondriaan also influenced her. Thanks to Toorop, Mies Elout was educated at the Drawing Academy in The Hague. He was the artist who taught her a sense of plane division, shadow effects and the interplay of lines.
Although Mies Elout led a secluded life in Domburg, she played an important role as a muse for artistic and literary friends such as Toorop, Mondriaan, Arthur van Schendel and Richard Roland Holst - and as Moen for her closest relatives. Mies Elout-Drabbe lived her entire life in the seaside resort, with the exception of her studies at the Hague Drawing Academy (1899-1901) and her last year of life in Ellecom. She died in 1956 at the age of 81, a few days after her husband, and was buried with him in Domburg.
Her son Frans Elout died in 1994, he left behind a collection of forty oil paintings and about three hundred works on paper by his mother. Among them are numerous paintings and drawings, ranging from portraits to landscapes, forest and seascapes, garden pieces, animal and figure paintings and still lifes.
