Milena Tlustá comes from the Czech Republic, where she studied art. She continued her education in the Netherlands (Arnhem).
Her subjects are still lifes (such as tables and chairs with a vase of flowers) and landscapes with a high horizon. She paints with oil paint in a very personal and expressive style, in which the figuration is still somewhat recognizable. She uses a bright color palette, e.g. orange, pink, lemon yellow and bright blue.
Thus, reality, as a result of her personal imagination, appears in an unexpected way: colour, shape and line create a fascinating interplay.
Her paintings are created after a long process of painting, repainting, removing, changing, all alternating with periods of contemplation; finally, a suitable title is added.
These titles are always about everyday things, but in this way they form a special combination with the artwork.
