Ad van den Boom started his career in advertising. His work has been awarded several national and international prizes, but that is not what drives him. He wants to improve the world. For example, he created Mappa Mondo for the Dutch Red Cross. In the mid-1990s, he taught at the Utrecht School of the Arts for a number of years.
