Nicolaas van Yperen painted very meritorious as a hobby at a young age, is self-taught, was taught by a painting group in Kralingen, during the Second World War he was in danger of being put to work in Germany, he had a family of seven children.
A cousin in the resistance who worked at the city hall in Rotterdam managed to persuade him to arrange something in the administration, with the result that there was no other choice than to become an independent entrepreneur, so he became a painter for his profession.
His autumn forest views were in great demand, in the fifties he opened an art dealership in Rotterdam, which he operated until his death.
