Paul Ewoud Versteeg, born 22-02-1944 in Amsterdam (according to some sources born in !942), painter, draftsman, watercolorist and pastelist.
Education: State Normal School Amsterdam (1961), State Academy of Fine Arts, Amsterdam (1962-1963) and (1966-1970), student of JM Luttge, Arie Kater and Otto B. de Kat.
1963-1964 Ateliers 63, Haarlem. Pupil of Ger Lataster.
Paul Versteeg grew up in the South of France and worked in Vence (Alpes-Maritimes), where he worked in the studio of Marc Chagall (1962-1967). At a young age he was given the honourable assignment to execute Marc Chagall's designs for the ceiling of the Opéra in Paris.
He started as a landscape painter and worked on the chalk coast of Normandy and in Provence in France. Back in Amsterdam he painted from his studio on the Amstel the old harbour areas around Amsterdam, the Diemerzeedijk and other landscapes that have since been transformed into new neighbourhoods.
