Geboren 1923 in Tiel en verhuisde in 1973 naar Jaarsveld.
Phil Grisel (1923-2008) was een bijzonder veelzijdig kunstenaar.
In Tiel was hij bevriend met Alexander Ernste ( 1913-1982 ) een veelzijdig kunstenaar en koperslager.
Als schilder werkte hij in uiteenlopende stijlen, van figuratief tot zeer abstract.
Hij timmerde niet echt aan de weg, wat niet in zijn natuur lag, daarnaast was de commercie in de kunstwereld hem een gruwel.
Werkte als planoloog bij de Provinciale Waterstaten in Utrecht en was dus niet afhankelijk om van zijn kunst te moeten leven.
Stond jarenlang op de kunstmarkt in Utrecht, waar het hem met name ging om het kontact met collega kunstenaars, die zijn werk veelal zeer waardeerden.
