Rein Dool was born in 1933 in Leiden. As a visual artist he is self-taught. Publications about his work have appeared in the Catalog of the Nederlandse Gasunie (1990, written by Ed Leeflang) and in Kunstbeeld (1993, written by Marius van Beek). In 1989 he received the Jeanne Oosting Prize for Watercolor.
