Ron van der Werf (1958) volgde zijn opleiding aan de
Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunst te Den Haag. Van der Werf schildert
met acryl, olieverf op doek, paneel en papier, vaak aangevuld met krijt,
potlood, textiel en karton.
Hij werkt met veel witten die overgaan in bruine of blauwe varianten,
geglaceerd in transparante lagen oker, sienna en andere aardtonen. Hij werkt
vanuit een innerlijke kracht, een streven naar bepaalde vormen, tegenstellingen
en kleuren. Materiaal, kleur en compositie stralen een rust uit die
weldadig en krachtig aandoet. Het werk kenmerkt zich door een eenheid, het
resultaat van een voortdurend zoeken en aftasten van grenzen vanuit een
concentratie en gedrevenheid die heeft geleid tot exposities in binnen- en
buitenland.
