Ruper Jasen Smith was a friend and important collaborator of Andy Warhol.
Andy Warhol met the very young Rupert Jasen Smith in 1974 who helped him with his hand-painted Flower editions. This became a close relationship of more than 15 years. Smith was appointed master printer and art director to Andy Warhol in 1977.
Warhol was so pleased with the work of his new master printer that he also allowed Smith to have a mark (blind stamp) in addition to the signature "Andy Warhol".
In addition to being Andy Warhol's printer and an important friend and collaborator of Warhol in his later years, Rupert Jasen Smith was also a notable artist in his own right.
