- Dutch artist Sam Schellink (1876-1958) is best known to collectors as a pottery painter, but he was also a versatile artist. He was self-taught and started working for Plateelbakkerij Rozenburg at the age of 16. Here he was an apprentice painter but come on to become a well-known pottery painter. He executed many of his designs, especially on the well-known eggshell porcelain. Sam Schellink's sets included birds, flowers and landscapes. When Rozenburg went bankrupt in 1914, Sam Schellink continued to paint in the same genre. From 1918, Sam Schellink worked for Amphora pottery in Oegstgeest and later at Goedewaagen in Gouda.
