Information about the artist:
Shraga Weil (Nitra, Czechoslovakia, September 24, 1918 – February 20, 2009, Israel) was an Israeli painter and printmaker.
-Education: He was taught by the local sculptor in his youth and then went to the Art Academy in Prague. In 1954 he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He made his first graphic works during World War II, most of which he spent in captivity. In 1947 he traveled to Israel and became a member of the Kibbutz HaOgen, where he lived until his death.
Shraga Weil had exhibitions in the United States, South America, Canada, Australia, France, the USSR, Switzerland, among others, and at the International Exposition of Graphic Arts in Lugano. In 1959, Weil was awarded the Dizengoff Art Prize in Tel Aviv.
His work is in the permanent collections of: Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts, Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Fogg Museum, Harvard University, Los Angeles County Museum, Jewish Museum, New York, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Joslyn Museum, Omaha, Nebraska, Judah Magnes Museum, Berkeley, Canada.
