Very beautiful and above all graceful sculpture by celebrated sculptor Tjipke Visser. Signed both on the statue and on the wooden pedestal, also on the underside of the pedestal. Visser was born in 1876 in Workum. After his youth, Visser followed various vocational training courses, after which he continued his studies at the Rijksakademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. He spent some time in the capital, but chose to be one of the first to settle in the artists' village of Bergen.

Origin: Image comes from the estate of Herman Martin: Author, known for the book "Tjipke Visser, sculptor, and his daughter Marijcke Visser, sculptress goldsmith" published in 1958.
Visser's work is diverse. In addition to human figures, such as the statue in question, he also made many animal figures in different periods, for which he was inspired by the Artis Zoo. There is also variation in his choice of materials: Visser used both wood and bronze for his sculptures. His work is very popular among collectors.
