Walther Vaes studied at the Academy of Antwerp from 1900. He was taught there by A. De Vriendt. Received the Prix de Rome in 1904. Developed into one of the most important engravers of Belgium. His work is in almost every important print room. The etching offered here is possibly unique. It depicts a rocky beach, and in the distance someone seems to be holding a kite in the air. The etching is very fine and on the back there is a handwritten text that this etching may not be sold.! Dated 20-9-1956 in mirror writing.
