Jan Willem (Wil) van Leeuwen born April 1909 in the Amsterdam Jordaan died June 1994 in Amsterdam was a Dutch painter, watercolorist, sculptor and enameler (jewelry). He was a student of JHA Everts and was a member of various associations including the Association of Dutch Visual Artists “De Brug” Amsterdam. He was also a member of the BKR (Visual Artists Regulation) committee that purchased works of art from artists so that they could earn an income. For his many contributions to Dutch culture he has been rewarded with an annual honorary allowance since the mid-sixties. In 1985 he received a major retrospective exhibition in Galerie – Museum Aemstelle in Amstelveen and in 1993 the book “Wil van Leeuwen – Een Amsterdams Kunstenaar” was published about his work as an artist. Wil van Leeuwen has exhibited at home and abroad and his work has been purchased by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
