Wil Willemsen - vier vrouwen - Sold

Born in Amsterdam in 1943. Education: Pedagogical Academy, European Academy in Trier, courses and work weeks at the workshop of the Van Gogh museum.
Wil Willemsen is fascinated by people. People on the street, at work, in sports, how people relate to each other in a group. Already at the Pedagogical Academy she learned to observe and deduce sharply. She noted the methods people use to communicate, to distinguish themselves in the group or to make contact. She discovered the language of the body. During her many sessions in studios and drawing tours in cities, she learned to convert this communication into colorful rhythmic translations. With strong strokes she depicts in bright colors the interpersonal relationships of the figures on paper and canvas. Her work leaves the viewer enough room for their own interpretation. Emotions such as: curiosity, jealousy and resignation, her figures radiate it. Groups of people tied together in rough paint rhythms.
Since 1990, Wil Willemsen has had various exhibitions, including in the Van Gogh museum workshop in Amsterdam, Mairie de Calvisson, France, VNU in Haarlem and Amsterdam, Galerie 1719 in Alkmaar, Spaarnestad publishers in Utrecht and Haarlem, Holland Art Fair and several others. Galleries.
