Brauck started his career in 1963 with a study at the Academy of Visual Arts in Rotterdam. An education that, as befits a good artist in the sixties, he did not complete. After many years of being active in the advertising and exhibition world, Brauck felt more inclined to devote himself entirely to art. He now lived in Harderwijk, with his family, and devoted himself entirely to painting.
With his paintings, Brauck shows how he views life. He tries to make the viewer aware of the duality within today's society: the constructive on the one hand and the destructive on the other. It seems contradictory, the weight of the subjects and Brauck's clear use of color. This use of color is essential in his work; “… it is for me the possibility of expression….”. Brauck was very socially critical in life, and clearly showed this, but with an optimistic expression. The energetic and expressive brush strokes have clearly won out over a fundamentally pessimistic vision. They seem to symbolize the hope and desire for a better management and use of this world. The beautiful and radiant use of color wants to point the way to a better awareness of how beautiful our world can be.
