Willem Visser - Polderlandschap - Sold

Willem Visser was educated at the Rotterdam Academy from 1974 to 1979. Between 1979 and 2002 he regularly exhibited landscapes and cityscapes in the Netherlands and Belgium. The polder landscape in particular had his interest at that time. His work is in private and public collections at home and abroad. Painting was put on the back burner between 2003 and 2017. During this time he worked as a project supporter, designer and webmaster at a non-profit organization. In 2017 he picked up painting again and - in his own words - continued where he 'stopped in 2002'.
This polder landscape from 1999 is part of a series of acrylic paintings that he made in the 1990s of the polder landscape in the Krimpenerwaard. What fascinated him in this landscape was the depth effect created by lines that all lead to the horizon of the flat land and the colors that seem to merge more and more on the horizon in a haze of blue-green tones.
