Witjens, Jan Willem Hendrik (Willem); born The Hague November 8, 1884, died. Den Bosch February 14, 1962. Lived and worked in The Hague, from 1940 in Nederhemert (gem Kerkwijk). Made trips to America, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, England and Spain. Student of the Academy v. B.K. in The Hague (evening course), initially training as a glazier at E.W.F. Kerling (13 years old), later a full-fledged painter (advice from H.J. van der Weele). The royal subsidy for three years (1915-1917). Painter, craftsman, glazier. Painted, watercolored, drew, etched and lithographed landscapes, figures (nudes), cityscapes, still lifes, best known for his snow scenes. At the time he contributed to the restoration of the Kon.
