Bram BOGART (Delft 1921 - Sint-Truiden 2012)
Abstract painter, graphic artist, ceramist
Education: Bram Bogart was trained as a house painter Lived and worked in The Hague, Delft and France
The Dutch-Belgian painter Bram Bogart was also known as Abraham van den Boogaart. He has been doing abstract painting since the 1950s. He was inspired by C_zanne and later used a simplified style for painting. From 1943 to 1948 he worked in The Hague, alternating with Delft and France. From the 1950s, Bram Bogart was one of the most progressive artists of the informal group. This means that he practiced informal painting such as action painting and dripping.
In Paris he lived in the same building as Appel and Corneille. But he absolutely did not want to join the CoBrA because, in his opinion, it attached too much value to chance.
