Rein Dool was educated at the Amsterdam Graphic School. Dool also learned model drawing at the painters society Ars Aemula Naturae , of which he was a member.
Biography
Reinier Arie Dool, known as Rein Dool, was born in Leiden. During his career, Dool built up an extensive oeuvre consisting of paintings, sculpture, graphics and ceramics. The foundation of his works lies in his drawings. Dool draws the subjects of his art from his memories in which man and his difficult relationship with his environment, his fellow man and himself and the inability to make contact are central motifs. Rein Dool works in a simplified, direct style with a free use of color and form. His works are characterized by stylization.
Exhibits and awards
Rein Dool won two prizes. In 1958 he won the second prize of the Van Collemfonds and in 1989 he received the Jeanne Oosting Prijs for his watercolors.
