Corneille was one of the founders and one of the most important representatives of the Cobra movement. He was a very prolific artist and produced an enormous amount of paintings, sculptures and graphics. Initially strongly influenced by Picasso, but later with the style characteristics of the Cobra, which Corneille is very familiar with. Corneille has worked abstractly, but from about 1960 he works figuratively with the well-known birds, women and flowers as subjects.
