- Dick Elffers (Rotterdam, 1910 – Amsterdam, 1990) doorloopt eind jaren twintig de kunstacademie. Opgeleid tot grafisch ontwerper gaat hij na zijn opleiding zelf als docent werken aan de academie. Tijdens en na zijn studie assisteert hij vormgevers Paul Schuitema en voor Piet Zwart, bij wie hij zeven jaar werkt en zijn belangrijkste assistent wordt. In mei 1940 wordt zijn atelier in Rotterdam gebombardeerd en verhuist hij naar Amsterdam. Na de oorlog ontwikkelt hij zich tot een veelzijdig kunstenaar en vooraanstaand ontwerper, werkend voor onder meer het Rijksmuseum en het Holland Festival. Hij verdiept zich in allerlei disciplines, als schilder, tekenaar, graficus, ontwerper, beeldhouwer, illustrator en realiseert zeventien typografische boekprojecten. Hij ontwikkelt zich in allerlei vakgebieden als keramiekreliëfs, wandtapijten en architectonische ontwerpen. Van 1970 tot 1976 is hij als docent monumentale kunst verbonden aan de kunstacademie in Den Bosch. Voor zijn werk ontvangt hij de H.N. Werkman Prijs en de Staatsprijs voor Typografie en zijn werk wordt opgenomen in de museale collecties.
