In his art, Junttila was primarily a recorder of the old, original Lapland, but also a photographer of later times. His works show the untouched nature and the Lapland mentality at its best. This 'lyrical realist' drew the subjects of his paintings from the nature of Kittilä: hills, forest ponds, streams, marshes and meadows along the river.
