Beautiful large lithograph by Gaston Bogaert (Le mans 1918-Etterbeek 2008), titled "La Ville". On thick handmade paper. Hand-numbered and signed. Excellent condition. Shipping (in a tube) in consultation but at the expense of the buyer. Gaston Bogaert was a Belgian surrealist painter. He was also known under the pseudonym Capouillard. From 1938, after studying architecture, Bogaert focused on interior design, theater and advertising graphics, including drawing posters. In 1965 he became a professional artist. Bogaert's work often has an ominous atmosphere. He uses silhouettes and overlapping shapes, creating a kind of diorama effect. Architectural elements can often be found in his work. Exhibitions and prizes At the 1978 Eurocon he won in the "Fantastic & Fantasy Award" category as an artist. His work is in the collection of, among others, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts and the Rockefeller Art Center in New York.
