Sebastianus Johannes Bakermans ('s-Hertogenbosch 1901 - Bladel 1984), spent part of his youth in Brussels; In the early 1930s he moved to Eindhoven, where he would play a leading role in the visual arts. Studied at the Academy in The Hague and at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam; settled in Waterloo, but returned to Eindhoven, where he started a drawing school in Strijp with his brother-in-law Kees Timmering (1898-1966) and Hub van Baar (1894-1982), the first form of education in this field in Eindhoven and surrounding areas
Received the royal subsidy for painting in 1931 and 1932. He settled in Knegsel around 1960; mainly painted landscapes and portraits.
The Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven owns his work.
