  • Beautiful and large Lithograph on paper, made in 1973 by the German artist jorg Reme (Danzig 1941-). In very good condition with very fresh colours. Number 10 in a total edition of 190 copies. Loose-leaf (not framed). Signed in pencil by the artist.

Born: Danzig 1941.

Education: Academy of Fine Arts & National Academy & Accademia di Belli Arti
Remé was born at a time of student uprisings, wars and assassinations. The journeys he would make in his later life were an important source of inspiration. After artistic wanderings, he decided in 1968 to make a completely unique contribution to modern art. To create his own image that had never been made before. In Sardinia, a head finally emerged from his brushstrokes. 'The head as a storage space for the human soul and intelligence'. Later, an amorphous image emerged with an ever-growing torso with increasingly human proportions. It was the birth of the Remian figure. Characteristic is the clear division of the plane. Sharply defined shapes and figures together form the dream world he created. His work is full of iconographic meanings. Umbilical cords, taps, water and springs populate his drawings and pastels. Later, tropical plant shapes and fantasy animals bubble up. Old symbols in a new guise.
Jorg Remé's work can be found in museums at home and abroad, including the Boymans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the museum of modern art in Strassburg. Dozens of catalogues of his work have been published. In 1977 he won a 1st prize for painting in Knokke-Heist in Belgium.
