Lucebert (pronounced: loetsjəbert), pseudonym of Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk (Amsterdam, September 15, 1924 – Alkmaar, May 10, 1994) was a Dutch poet and painter. As a poet, he was seen as the leader of the movement of the Vijftigers, a progressive group of poets that began experimenting with form and content after the Second World War. As a painter he was closely involved in the Amsterdam branch of the experimental Cobra group. In 2018 a biography by Wim Hazeu was published. In his younger years he obeyed the call to report for the German Arbeitseinsatz. he then worked as a forced laborer in the German arms industry.
