Band" is a lithograph by M. C. Escher, created in April 1956. The work shows the heads of a man and a woman, composed of a single, continuous band that forms their faces. This band winds in a spiral, creating the illusion that the faces are made of hollow strips of paper. Numerous spheres float around and within these structures, contributing to the surrealistic appearance of the work.
"Band" is an example of Escher's fascination with infinity, spatial illusions and the connection between different elements and is a very famous work by Escher that has been used countless times on reproductions and objects. However, this is an original numbered and signed lithograph.
Special and rare work.
The lithograph itself (image) measures 25.4 × 33.97 cm and is printed on cream-colored paper (See condition). Escher signed and dated the work in the lower right corner of the stone with "IV-'56 / MCE". It is numbered and signed in pencil below the image, lower left.
