This screen print is not numbered because each screen print is unique ,

ref. 1986.06.
There were 32 "sets" made, each containing 25 prints. Within each of those sets of 25, all five colors were used, and all five shapes were used, as per the title of the piece. All 32 "sets" were the same, as each set of 25 had all five shapes in all five colors (25 combinations). However, these "sets" of 25 were not meant to be kept together, but were split up by the artist and publisher into nearly all unique groups of five, making a total of 160 unique sets of five. 150 of the sets are "multi-colored" (with some sets having more than one shape in the same color).
None of these sets are numbered, as each set is unique.
This screen print comes from one of these sets.

Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) has had hundreds of solo exhibitions in museums and galleries in the US, Europe and far beyond since his first exhibition in New York in 1965. He is the master of Minimal Art, the reduction of art to its essence under the motto 'the idea becomes a machine that makes art'. LeWitt always continued to work with basic geometric shapes such as the sphere, the triangle and the cube.
