Education:
Aat Veldhoen trained as a drawing teacher at the Academy of Visual Arts in Amsterdam, which he broke off early. Aat Veldhoen's work immediately received a lot of praise from the public and the press. Three times in a row, Aat Veldhoen received a Grant for Free Painting (1956 to 1958).
Early on in his career, Aat Veldhoen created a very extensive graphic oeuvre. Besides landscapes and still lifes, Veldhoen also portrays naked couples making love in his work. This caused a lot of commotion. Furthermore, Aat Veldhoen was a very idealistic man, he wanted art for all people and printed his prints in large numbers. Veldhoen rode through the city on a cargo bike and sold his prints for 3 guilders each. From the 1970s, Aat Veldhoen mainly focused on painting.
