About the painter Hermanus (Herman) Berserik (June 19, 1921, The Hague – March 21, 2002) was a Dutch painter and graphic artist. Berserik was born as the son of Hermanus Berserik Sr. and Pieternella Jacoba Knaap. His father had a cleaning company and was also a still life painter. He trained at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1939 to 1944, where he was taught by, among others, Willem Schrofer (painting), Willem Rozendaal (graphic techniques), Paul Citroen, in whose studio he worked in 1942, and Rein Draijer.
